Sir Jackie Stewart. 

Regarded as the greatest racing driver of his era. Sir Jackie Stewart won the world championship on 3 occasions (1969, 1971 and 1973) after making his Grand Prix debut in South Africa (East London) in 1965. Jackie Stewart won 25 Grand Prix from 99 starts, retiring at the end of the 1973 season.

A Kyalami Legend.

Jackie Stewart won the SAGP at Kyalami twice, in 1969 (Matra Ford MS 10) and 1973 (Tyrrell Ford 006), taking the world championship in both years. Jackie also had 2 podium finishes at Kyalami in 1970 (third) and in 1971 (second). Jackie started 3 of his 5 Grand Prix at Kyalami in pole position (1970, 1971 and 1972). A driver of great skill, who always conducted himself with great dignity and humility. A driver that did more for driver safety than any other, in a time when death in racing was often an accepted risk. He left school at an early age (later diagnosed with dyslexia) and focused his attention on clay pigeon shooting while working in his father's garage. He becoming a multiple Scottish champion and narrowly missed out on being selected for the Scottish Olympic Team. He was introduced to motorsport by Brother Jimmy. He soon joined forces with Ken Tyrrell, a relationship that would bring great success. A little known fact is that Jackie also won his first Formula 1 race at Kyalami (The second heat of the Rand Grand Prix in 1964, not a round of the world championship) and he scored his first point in the world championship at SAGP (East London) finishing sixth in 1965. Today Jackie Stewart is a successful family man, businessman, well known commentator and in honor of his achievements was Knighted in 2001.
